ITALIAN PIANO V5 is a bright, singing Italian concert grand made for the K2700. Every note plays in eight velocity layers, from a whisper to a full fortissimo, so the tone opens up as you play harder instead of only getting louder.

Under the pedal the undamped strings answer each other: a stereo resonance that grows over two and a half seconds on the notes you play with the pedal down, chosen as each note starts, as inside a real grand. Let a key go and its damper falls with a key-release sound recorded at three dynamics, softer or harder as you played it; the K2700's own pedal noises sit underneath.

Six programs share the same samples: Italian Grand, and five voicings ready for the stage, the studio and the club, each with its own EQ curve, lid, microphone distance, string resonance and room. All six answer the same 22 controls on the K2700's panel, so you can close the lid, move the microphone or open the room while you play.

Inside

One grand, six ways to hear it.

Six programs on the same eight velocity layers, each voiced for a different place.

ITALIAN GRAND

The grand on its own, every control at its starting point: the one to shape from scratch on the K2700's panel.

ITALIAN STAGE

Close and bright for the stage: the lid fully open, the microphone half a metre away, some air on top and a short hall.

ITALIAN WARM

The lid almost down, more body and less top, a touch of compression and a warm hall for slow, quiet playing.

STUDIO HALL

The microphone back at 1.8 m in a large room: the piano and the space around it, for solo pieces and ballads.

ITALIAN ROCK

The microphone at the hammers, all the sizzle and real compression, in a small room: it cuts through a band.

JAZZ ROOM

The lid half open, the microphone at 1.2 m, a gentle compressor and a club-sized room with a little warmth.

On the panel

The whole piano on the K2700's panel.

Every program answers the same 22 controls in Program mode, on the K2700 alone: no Mac and no app needed to shape the piano while you play.
