KEDITOR ORCHESTRA
Seat an orchestra on stage. Your K2700 plays each player from where they sit, live.
A real-time editor for your K2700: drag each group of players to its place on a four-level stage, and the K2700 follows while you play. Every instrument sounds from where it sits, left or right, near or far, as in a real hall. No other keyboard does this.
Twenty-three instrument groups sit on an amphitheatre stage, from the soloists at the conductor's side to the choir at the back. Drag a group to a new place and you hear it move: to the left or the right, nearer or farther, a step up or down the stage. Every instrument takes on the sound of its place in the hall, so the orchestra plays with the width and the depth of a real one, on your K2700, live.
Right-click a group to open its window: its keymap, volume, transpose, velocity range, a parametric EQ, a seven-segment amplitude envelope you watch as it plays, and a vibrato with delay and fade-in. Each change reaches the K2700 as you make it. Save each hall as a program; export it as a .K27 file only when you want to take it to another K2700.
What it does
Live on your K2700
A real-time editor: drag a group, change its sound, and the K2700 follows at once while you play.
23 groups
Strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, choir, harp and soloists, each one a layer of a single K2700 program.
Drag to place
Where a group sits is how it sounds: its side of the stage, its distance from the microphone, the step it stands on.
Four stage levels
Soloists, strings, woodwinds and brass, percussion: the farther back a level, the deeper and softer it sounds, as in a hall.
The hall
How much of the hall you hear, how large it is and its tone, on the K2700's slider 9, knobs 8 and 9 and button 9.
Per instrument
Keymap, volume from −30 to +10 dB, transpose ±36 semitones, a velocity range to the value, SOLO, on / off.
Parametric EQ
40 Hz to 16 kHz, 0.1 to 4 octaves, ±24 dB, on every instrument, in the K2700's own steps.
AMP ENV, live
Seven segments from 0 to 60 s, loops, Natural or User. A dot follows the newest note through the curve.
Vibrato
LFO 1 with 46 shapes up to 25 Hz, its depth with the wheel down and up, a delay and a fade-in of up to 10 s.
Key ranges
Drag an instrument's keys along the keyboard; its octave follows, so it keeps sounding where it did.
Keymaps
Give a chair another sound from your list, matched in level to its own; with KINSPIRATION, its USER keymaps too.
Programs
Each program is the whole hall. Step with ◀ ▶, see EDITED when it changes, SAVE, RENAME, DELETE.
EXPORT
One program or all of them as a .K27, to take your halls to another K2700 or keep them safe, checked against the K2700's limits first.
A realism no keyboard has
On other keyboards an orchestra is a stack of sounds in one place. Here every group has its own place on the stage, and its own sound from there: the violins at the front on the left, the horns behind them, the timpani at the back. Move them and you hear the hall change, live, on your K2700.
One program, the whole orchestra
No Multis and no setups to manage: every instrument is a layer of one K2700 program, with five effect chains. Change program on the K2700 and the whole hall changes with it.
See the voices
VOICES counts the notes sounding as you play, against the K2700's 256: one key with the whole orchestra on stage uses 27 of them. It turns amber at 168, red at 224.
See it, hear it
A hall you play
The program and the hall's controls along the top, the stage in the middle, the readouts and a full keyboard below. Each instrument's window opens over the stage, above the keyboard, so you keep playing while you change it.
Seat them where you hear them
Each group is drawn as its players, dressed in its family's colour: burgundy strings, green woodwinds, blue brass, rust percussion, purple choir, a teal harp. Drag one and it turns to face the podium; the readout under the stage says what you now hear.
- Pan comes from the group's two ends as the main microphone sees them, 5 m in front of the podium and 3 m up: −64 to +64, the K2700's own scale.
- Distance is the players' average distance to the microphone: the direct sound moves between +4 and −9 dB.
- Level is the step the group stands on: the farther back, the deeper it sounds. What you see is what you hear.
- Double-click a group to switch it on or off; the arrow keys nudge it, a metre at a time with Shift.
Everything about one instrument
Right-click a group, or Ctrl-click it, to open its window. Everything in it is the group's layer of the program, in the K2700's own units.
- KEYMAP: its own, as made, or another from your list, set to sound as loud.
- VOLUME −30 to +10 dB, TRANSPOSE ±36 semitones, VELOCITY the range it plays, from 0 to 127, to the value.
- PARAMETRIC EQ: frequency 40 Hz to 16 kHz in semitones, width 0.1 to 4 octaves, gain ±24 dB.
- AMP ENV: seven segments, each a time in the K2700's 256 steps up to 60 s and a level; loops forward or both ways; the dot follows the note you play.
- LFO 1 · VIBRATO: 46 shapes, a rate up to 25 Hz, the depth with the wheel down and up, a delay and a fade-in.
- LAYER ON, SOLO, TO THE ROW.
Every hall a K2700 program
A program is the whole hall: every group's place, volume, keymap, keys, velocities, EQ, envelope and vibrato, and the hall. The PROGRAM box says where the hall came from, and EDITED once it no longer matches; ◀ ▶ step through the programs, asking before anything is lost.
- PROGRAMS opens the list: LOAD, SAVE to any number with a name of up to 16 characters, RENAME, DELETE.
- EXPORT writes the chosen program, EXPORT ALL every program, as one .K27: the programs, their keymaps, the five effect chains and every sample, once.
- Checked first against the K2700's limits: 32 layers, 8 insert chains, USER IDs up to 8191.
More sounds for each chair
SETTINGS lists every keymap there is to play: the orchestra's own first, then, with KINSPIRATION on the same Mac, its USER keymaps. Tick one and every instrument's window offers it; its samples are copied into the orchestra's folder.
- Matched in level: a new keymap is measured against the instrument's own, at three notes across its keys, and set as loud.
- Stereo pairs come together; two keymaps on one instrument make it stereo.
- Untick a keymap and the instruments that played it go back to their own.
Start from an empty hall
RESET sends every group to a row on the floor in front of the stage, switched off: drag the ones you want onto the stage, and only they play. RESET SEATING puts the usual orchestra back, everyone on. Both ask first, and UNDO puts every group back where it was.
In the manual: RESET and RESET SEATINGTwenty-three groups, four levels
Where each group sits in the usual seating, and the keys it plays as it comes. Any group can go to any level, and its keys can move.

From the hall to the instrument
Connect
Your K2700 on USB: it plays the hall while you build it.
Seat
Drag the groups you want onto the stage, and hear each one take its place; RESET first for a clean stage.
Shape
Right-click a group: keymap, volume, keys, velocities, EQ, envelope, vibrato. The K2700 follows each change.
Save
SAVE the hall as a program, with its number and its name.
Take it along
To play a hall on another K2700, EXPORT it as a .K27 file; there, GLOBAL > FILE > LOAD and FILL.
What you need
- Platform
- A native macOS app, macOS 12 or later. A Windows version is on the roadmap.
- To play
- Required: a K2700, which plays the hall live while you build it.
- K2700
- On USB, it follows every move in real time. To take a hall to another K2700, export it as a .K27 (LOAD, FILL). The hall answers the K2700's slider 9, knobs 8 and 9 and button 9.
- Space
- The orchestra takes about 100 MB in the app. One program uses about 80 MB of the K2700's sample memory.
- Keymaps
- The orchestra's own; with KINSPIRATION on the same Mac, its USER keymaps too.
- Files
- .K27 export, one program or all of them, when you want it. Programs and the hall in the app's data folder.
