KINSPIRATION + CLAUDE
Describe a sound. Get a K2700 program.
Ask Claude for a sound in plain words, or give it a recording. It writes the program, plays it, measures it, refines it, and stores it only when you say yes.
An editor, machine learning and Claude, around your K2700.Ask in plain words or drop a recording: Claude writes the program, KINSPIRATION plays and measures it, and your K2700 plays it live.A set of skills teaches Claude the K2700 in depth: VAST programming, DSP functions, envelopes and LFOs, FUNs, modulation, effects, the arpeggiator and sequencers, FM and KB3, keymaps and samples, Multis, and the instrument itself.
A connector links Claude to KINSPIRATION, so it does not only explain: it builds the program, measures it, compares it with your recording and tunes it, and plays it on your K2700 over the LINK.
From your words to the K2700's keys
Claude knows the K2700 through its skills, and reaches it through the k2700 connector, a set of tools that runs on your Mac beside KINSPIRATION. KINSPIRATION measures every program against your recording and plays it on the K2700 over the LINK.
Two ways in
Ask Claude in plain words, or drop a WAV of one note on KINSPIRATION's window: it becomes the TARGET that REPLICATE, SPECTRUM and Claude all work against.
It goes both ways
Claude writes and edits; KINSPIRATION answers with what it hears: a similarity score, the differences biggest first, a spectrogram.
You stay in charge
The LINK plays a program in the K2700's edit buffer. Nothing is stored on the instrument until you say yes, and it is checked first.
One sound, start to finish
An example conversation, shortened. The grey labels are the connector's tools Claude calls along the way; the screens beside it are what KINSPIRATION shows at the same time.
- Youpoly-brass-C3.wav
I dropped a brass note on KINSPIRATION. Make it on my K2700, and let the mod wheel open the filter.
- Claude
kinspiration_contextreplicate_resultsYour target is poly-brass-C3.wav: a C3 at velocity 100, held 2 seconds. REPLICATE's model hears a sawtooth sound, and its search found eight programs; the closest, an analog one, is already at 92 %.
- Claude
replicate_trycompare_to_referencespectrogramOne difference is left: the program reaches full level in 10 ms, your recording in 22 ms. I'll lengthen the amplitude envelope's attack to match, and put the mod wheel on the low-pass filter's frequency, up to two octaves.
- Claude
get_programsend_programcompare_to_referenceIt's playing now on your K2700, over the LINK: the attack follows your recording, and the wheel opens the filter. Shall I store it on the K2700?
- You
Yes, at the end of USER.
- Claude
store_to_k2700Checked and stored as a USER program, "Poly Brass MW". It's on the instrument now, with or without the Mac.
Thirteen skills, a K2700 expert and a synthesist
Skills are what Claude reads before it works: the K2700 part by part, every page, field and range, with how the instrument's own programs use them. Two more teach synthesis itself, so Claude can recreate a classic analog sound or an FM electric piano from first principles.
The K2700, part by part 11

fm-synthFM synthesis
Carriers and modulators, ratios, index and spectra, feedback, the 32 classic six-operator algorithms by family, 1,024 classic voices to learn from, and 32 recipe voices.
Give it one note. Get the program back.
REPLICATE listens to a recording of one note and makes it again as K2700 programs. A model trained on the engine's own sounds makes the first guess at once; a search then tunes each kind of program against your recording; SPECTRUM shows you, and Claude, how close it came.
Drop a WAV
One note, from any synth, sampler or plugin. It becomes the TARGET: the sound REPLICATE, SPECTRUM and Claude all aim at.
The model listens
A neural network hears the recording and guesses, at once, what kind of program it is (analog, waveform, FM, additive or the sample itself) and where to start.
The search tunes
Eight kinds of program are tuned against your recording, from an analog voice to FM with free ratios: eight suggestions, ranked by how close they sound. Play one, TRY it on the keyboard, KEEP it in USER.
SPECTRUM compares
The recording and the program as spectrograms, their difference in red and blue, both levels over time, a similarity score and the differences, biggest first.
Claude takes over
It reads all of it, edits the program in musical terms, and lets the optimiser fine-tune the numbers against your recording. FOLLOW CLAUDE redraws SPECTRUM at every step.
You approve
APPROVE keeps the recording and its program as an example; KEEP puts the program at the end of USER.
What you can ask
How it works
You ask
In plain words, or by dropping a recording on KINSPIRATION.
Claude writes
A complete K2700 program, layer by layer.
KINSPIRATION plays
On your K2700, over the LINK.
Claude measures
Similarity and spectrum against your recording; the optimiser tries hundreds of variations.
You decide
Nothing is written to the K2700 without a check and your yes.
What it does
13 skills
Programming, DSP, envelopes and LFOs, FUNs, modulation, effects, arp and sequencers, FM and KB3, keymaps and samples, Multis, the instrument, subtractive and FM synthesis.
From recordings
Recordings described in musical terms, a similarity score and a spectrogram A/B.
Optimiser
Hundreds of variations in seconds, keeping the closest.
Effects search
Finds the right effect chain, then copies and edits it.
Your own samples
Turns WAVs into keymaps and programs, with loops, kits and velocity zones.
Safe
Writes to the K2700 only with your explicit yes.
The editor Claude works in
KINSPIRATION is a complete K2700 program editor, with a VAST engine that measures every program before the K2700 plays it. Everything Claude does, you can see and change by hand, window by window.
The whole program on one screen
Up to 32 layers along the top. For the layer you choose: its keymap, its algorithm drawn block by block, every DSP row with its tracking and two modulation sources, the three envelopes, the LFOs, ASRs and FUNs, the output, the effects and the controllers.
- Click a block to choose its function; drag a value, click a source.
- MUTE, SOLO, NEW, NEW FM, DUP, DEL for the layers, as on the instrument.
- REVERT goes back to the program as it was loaded.
Every row, every source
Each row of the algorithm in full: its value, key and velocity tracking, Source 1 with its depth, Source 2 with its depth control, and the minimum and maximum depths. The algorithm and the keymap stay in view.
Six operators, on one page
The K2700's FM layer as a page of its own: the algorithm drawn, feedback, transpose and detune, and each operator's level, ratio or fixed frequency, its envelope, rates and levels.
The K2700's panel, and its screen
The instrument's knobs, sliders and buttons, named as the program names them, beside its screen and its buttons. Move a control here and the program answers as it would on the K2700.
The pages you know from the instrument
EDIT opens Program Edit as the K2700 shows it, page for page and soft button for soft button, so what you learn here is what you find on the instrument.
Keymaps, key by key
Every range of a keymap: its sample, keys and velocities, coarse and fine tune, volume. Claude reads and writes keymaps too, and builds them from your own WAVs.
Chains, box by box
The insert and aux chains as boxes from IN to OUT, with every effect's pages. Claude finds the right chain among thousands, copies it and edits the copy: the instrument's own chains are never changed.
Programs as text you can read
Claude writes a program as a short text: its layers, functions, envelopes and effects in plain values. Paste one here, or drop it on the window, and it plays at once; keep it, share it, or ask Claude to change it.
43 tools Claude can use
The k2700 connector runs on your Mac with KINSPIRATION. These are its tools, the hands Claude works with; you never call them yourself.
