INTIMATE GRAND is a warm, close grand made for the K2700: the piano you sit right next to, for songs, ballads and the late hours. Every note plays in eight velocity layers, so a soft touch stays round and quiet and a firm one opens up the whole instrument.
Every layer was also recorded with the sustain pedal held, so under the pedal you hear the open strings ringing as they do inside the piano. Let a key go and its damper falls with a key-release sound from three recordings, softer or harder as you played; the K2700's own pedal noises sit underneath.
Nine programs share the same samples: Intimate Grand and eight voicings for the stage, the studio, the club and the hall, each with its own EQ curve, lid, microphone distance, string resonance and room. All of them answer the same 22 controls on the K2700's panel.

INTIMATE GRAND

The lid on its full stick and the microphone at the hammers, a little air on top and a short hall.
STUDIO CLOSE
Close and present for recording: more top and sizzle, real compression and a small studio room.
JAZZ CLUB
The lid on the short stick, the microphone back at 1.2 m, a softer top and a chamber's warmth.
LID DOWN
The lid closed: soft, round and private, with more string resonance and a longer release.
BIG HALL
The microphone 2.4 m away in a large hall with a long tail: the piano and the space around it.
POP PUNCH
Bright and compressed for a mix, with a short echo and a plate: it cuts through a band.
ECHO BALLAD
A slow echo answering every phrase, in a long hall, for ballads.
INDIE ROOM
The lid on the short stick, darker and closer, in a small room with a touch of compression.

The sustain pedal lifts the dampers and brings in the string resonance and the pedal noises. Buttons 2 to 5 and 7 are left free.

Load it with FILL
From a USB stick, in GLOBAL, FILE, LOAD. Everything goes into free places; nothing of yours is replaced.
Play
Find the programs by name. The samples stay in the K2700's sample memory after power-off: load them once.
